Difference Between P-Type Bulbs and T-Type Bulbs

Table of Content [Hide]

What are P-type and T-type bulbs?

P-type bulb: P stands for "Point". In the bulb industry, it usually refers to the distance between the center points of two lights, i.e., pixel pitch or dot pitch. The value following the P represents the specific distance, such as P2, P3, etc. The smaller the value, the denser the pixel points, and the richer the details of the image. P-type bulbs are commonly used in LED displays, digital billboards, and other applications requiring high pixel density.

T-type bulb: T stands for "Diameter". T-type bulbs primarily refer to the thickness of LED fluorescent tubes. The larger the number following T, the larger the diameter of the LED tube, such as T5, T8, etc. This naming convention intuitively reflects the physical size of the tube.

P-type vs T-type bulbs in Brightness and Efficiency

P-type bulb: Due to the design of P-type bulbs, which is often aimed at applications with high pixel density and brightness, they have relatively high output power, providing higher brightness. This design also helps in enhancing light efficiency, making the light more uniform and bright.

T-type bulb: The brightness of T-type bulbs is related to their diameter and the light-emitting elements inside the tube. Generally, larger diameter T-type bulbs (like T8) cover a wider area, but the light intensity per unit area might be lower; while smaller diameter T-type bulbs (like T5) may have higher light intensity but cover a smaller area. Additionally, the electrical efficiency of T-type bulbs may vary depending on specific models and designs.

P-type vs T-type bulbs in Application Scenarios

P-type bulb: Due to their high pixel density and brightness, Type p light bulb is widely used in scenarios requiring high resolution and brightness, such as large indoor LED displays, outdoor billboards, and stadiums. These settings demand high image clarity and brightness, which P-type bulbs can effectively meet.

T-type bulb: T-type bulbs are widely used in various lighting scenarios due to their diverse diameters and application range. For example, T5 and T8 tubes are commonly used in commercial lighting, industrial lighting, and plant growth lights. T5 tubes, with their compact design and higher light intensity, are particularly suitable for high light intensity and limited space settings; T8 tubes, with their wider diameter and broader coverage, are suitable for large spaces or settings requiring uniform lighting.

P-type vs T-type bulbs in Installation and Maintenance

P-type bulb: Given that P-type bulbs are usually used in complex systems such as large LED displays, their installation and maintenance are relatively complex. Professional technicians are required for installation and debugging to ensure picture quality and system stability.

T-type bulb: Installation and maintenance of type T bulbs are relatively simple. They can typically be directly replaced in existing fluorescent fixtures without complex modifications. Additionally, T-type bulbs have a long service life and relatively low maintenance costs, offering high economic and convenience benefits in usage.

P-type vs T-type bulbs in Environmental Protection and Energy Saving

P-type bulb: Although P-type bulbs by Topstar have advantages in brightness and resolution, their energy consumption might also be relatively high. However, with the continuous development of LED technology, the energy efficiency of P-type bulbs is also improving to meet environmental and energy-saving needs.

T-type bulb: T-type bulbs perform outstandingly in energy saving. Compared to traditional fluorescent lamps, LED T-type bulbs have higher energy efficiency and longer service life. They can also be dimmed as needed for more precise lighting control. These features give T-type bulbs significant advantages in environmental protection and energy saving.
